Floating Turntable Architecture
Audio-Technica got its start in 1962 as a manufacturer of high-quality, handcrafted phono cartridges, and over the years has introduced many innovative designs. The cartridge, through its stylus (or needle), picks up vibrations from a record groove and converts them into electrical signals that can be amplified by a sound system.
But for a cartridge to function to its fullest, for its stylus to trace the record groove accurately and transmit a clean audio signal, the turntable must suppress external vibrations as much as possible. The innovative floating structure of “Hotaru” does this wonderfully, while also creating a stunning visual effect. Magnets in both the upper turntable and lower speaker sections of “Hotaru” repel one another, causing the turntable section to float, thus isolating it from sound-degrading vibrations.
Lighting That Moves With the Music
A 20-color lighting system synchronizes with your records in three modes:
Basic Mode -Choose a single color
Gradient Mode -Flowing, mood-shifting hues
Link Mode -Dynamic response to your music
These modes let you create your own audiovisual atmosphere.
Unique sound expression from a storied analog audio brand
Hotaru incorporates refined audio technology based on over 60 years of experience. Included is an AT-VM740xML cartridge with microlinear stylus, part of Audio-Technica’s AT-VMx premium dual moving magnet (MM) cartridge line. This cartridge reproduces even the most subtle nuances of sound. For those who wish to use other cartridges, a switch located under the platter allows for selection of either moving magnet (MM) or moving coil (MC) cartridges.
Materials that elevate both design and performance
The record player is made of meticulously crafted acrylic that accentuates the beauty of the lighting. Thanks to a high-quality aluminum case with integrated speaker system and solid brass feet, this system exudes a rich and refined feel.
A new analog experience that begins with discovery
The outer packaging resembles alabaster stone, which you lift to reveal the Hotaru within. There you’ll find it wrapped in a traditional Kyoto furoshiki cloth that further protects the record player.
